(One More Moan, Baby)
Mark Grayson finally lets you take care of him—in more ways than one. Mark Grayson’s in love. When the emotional dam finally breaks, he comes to realize love doesn’t have to follow a script. It just has to be honest. Featuring the world’s softest superhero-level compromise. ☁️ ♥️
(Two and a Half Graysons)
You're not officially a parent, but you might as well be. You're not officially married, but everyone seems to think you are. Between shirtless mornings, grocery store tension, and baby carrier missions, the line between “dating Mark” and “co-raising a purple alien infant with Mark” gets blurrier by the day. But it’s fine. You’re emotionally stable. Probably. ☁️ ♥️
Invincible Variant Fics: Lensless Mark/No Goggles (Slap Me Silly)
Synopsis is self-explanatory! 🌶️
Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner (The Psychopath)
When dinner with friends turns into a silent war of tension, touch, and self-control, it becomes clear Mark has zero intention of behaving. From under-the-table teasing that ends in a ruined pair of pants to a post-party bathroom brawl with slaps, spitting, and broken plumbing, you both spiral into a night of explosive mutual destruction.
Sinister Mark (Attention Hungry)
Advisory warning, smut included with mild themes for abuse or toxic relationships.

(Knees Up, Mouth Shut)

When a challenge is issued, winner takes control for 24 hours, they both expect victory. Now, pinned back with legs folded to his chest, pride cracking under the weight of her hips, Mark finds himself unraveling with every deep roll and breathless moan. 🌶️
Mohawk Mark + Sinister (Taking Turns)
Synopsis is self-explanatory! 🌶️
(Submitting Two Marks For Review!)
Two Mark variants, both are submissive, and you, the reader, are dominant. Pegging involved. 🌶️
(Not Her, But Mine)
He lost you in his universe. In this one, you’re not her, but that doesn’t matter. You’re still warm. Still tight. Still his. 🌶 ☁️ Viltrum Mark (Bite Me Back)
He finds himself increasingly overwhelmed by instinctual need and possessiveness—but it’s not just lust that’s consuming him. It’s you. 🌶️
+ Multi-Variaint (Bite Me Back Too)
Each version of Mark Grayson— bratty kings, calculating monsters, broken gods— crave the same thing: your body, your loyalty, your soul. You’re a cure and a weakness they crave to keep. Consume him. 🌶️
Shiesty Mark + Omni-Mark (Double Booked)
You’re the problem that makes them argue, compete, and wreck you just to prove a point. Used, stuffed, and silenced—until you flip the game on them and make them beg to take turns. Who’s really in control? That’s the fun part. 🌶️
Atom Eve: (Atomic Heart)
With Mark gone for five years, and Eve's lips ghosting promises against your skin, you realize... it was time to take his place. 🌶️ ☁️
(Burnout)
Through her heroisms, you and Eve fostered a friendship. Watching the world beat her down through the paper broke your poor little heart... so why not offer the girl some relief for her burnout? 🌶️ ♥️
(She Who Remembers You)
In a fractured world with collapsing timelines and bleeding skies, you finally catch up to her, only to find that she remembers you. Not just your face, but who you were across universes. What you could have been. And what you might still be. 🌶️ 🌧️
(Rex + Eve + Reader, Two's Company, Three's Dangerous)
Three’s not a crowd—it’s foreplay. When Rex and Eve decide to start pulling girls together, they don’t expect you to walk in and flip the game on its head. Now you're all tangled in teasing, tension, and a whole lot of trouble they can't stop chasing. ☁️
Rex Splode/Rex Sloan: (Blow it Up, Babe-- Its Therapy)
Rex decides the best stress relief is blowing stuff up—Rex-style. What starts as a chaotic night of grenades and bad ideas turns unexpectedly soft when he realizes just how much he actually cares about you. ♥️
Drabbles: "Sit, Stay, Counter."
In which you, a mere civilian with either questionable upper body strength or pure audacity, attempt to lift various overpowered Viltrumite men and sit them on the kitchen counter like they’re your pretty little trophy husbands. ☁️
Long-Form Special Requests: Spice & Distruction ☁️ (Oc VS. Variants)
Tumblr media
Avatar (The Way of Water)⭒-.⋆🪼⋆.-⭒ Jake Sully (Solo Fics): (Everything But In)
You find yourself bonded to both Jake and Neytiri. As time went on, even the simplest aspects of your personality began to captivate him. It felt wrong, like a transgression against his morals. Yet, you remained there, so... prettily and he came to yearn you just as you did him. 🌶️
Jake Sully + Neytiri (Roll For Me)
In which the camera of the audience captures the erotic gasps in the night between three sweat-glistening bodies in the forests of Pandora. 🌶️
Past Projects (Scrapped Works) Any published prior ↵↵↵↵
Devil May Cry DMC HEADCANONS ⛧☾༺♰༻☽⛧
Synopsis is self-explanatory.

DC COMICS (BatFam so far!) Dick Grayson (Runway Walk)
With twenty minutes to curtain call, a locked dressing room door, and a desk sturdy enough to ruin, you're about to discover there's nothing more dangerous than a man in a suit… especially when you designed it to come off. 🌶️ ♥️
(The Gloves Come Off)
Training with Dick Grayson was always intense, but when a spar spirals into something messier — something needy, and unforgiving, you learn just how well Nightwing reads a body under pressure. In the end, it’s not just your bodies on the line. It’s the way you come undone for each other — breathless and craving more. 🌶️
(Your Name Lives Under My Tongue જ⁀➴ ♡)
You haunt their thoughts like a song stuck on repeat—pulling them closer with every heartbeat, every whispered “come here.” Inspired by Love Me Not by Ravyn Lenae. 🌧️

Having religious sites in a region does not give your state or your religion ownership over it. By that logic, the Vatican would own half of Europe. The claim that Kashmir “belongs to Hindus” because of Amarnath or Shankaracharya temple is rooted in theocratic ethno-nationalist agenda, not history. Yes, Hindu sites exist in Kashmir because Hindus have historically lived there, just like Muslims, Buddhists, and others. Kashmiris of all faiths have coexisted and contributed to the region’s culture, language, and history for centuries.
Kashmir doesn’t “belong” to Hindus, Muslims, or any religion — it belongs to its people. The indigenous, regardless of what religion they follow today. Conversion doesn’t erase indigeneity. Cultural belonging is rooted in land, language, and memory — not who you pray to. But that is a concept difficult to grasp for you.
Kashmiri Pandits’ lack of return is not the fault of Kashmiri Muslims. It is the fault of the Indian government, which has used their displacement as a political pawn for decades. The state did nothing for their safe resettlement, didn’t provide real rehabilitation, and still continues to use their pain to fuel communal hate instead of solutions. And fools like you fall for it.
Anyway, free kashmir <3
Wow, it's impressive how much misinformation can fit into a single ask—your understanding of Kashmir's history seems to be as shallow as a puddle in the sun.
lets start, shall we?
“Having religious sites in a region does not give your state or your religion ownership over it.”
In many cases, the very establishment and maintenance of a religious site have been acts of statecraft. For example, the 2008 transfer of 99 acres of forest land to the Amarnath Shrine Board wasn’t just a religious accommodation—it was a political decision by both the Indian Union and the J&K government to assert authority over that part of the Valley. Religious institutions often hold de facto governing power over adjacent land and resources (roads, policing, revenue), effectively exercising territorial control even if they aren’t “sovereign” in name. Religious sites can and do establish historical and even legal ties to a community. The existence of a temple isn’t merely “cultural fluff.” In many pre-modern polities, state authority was deeply bound up with patronage of shrines. The Shankaracharya Temple atop Takht-e-Suleiman, for example, dates back to at least the 9th century and was rebuilt by Hindu and Buddhist rulers—evidence that Kashmir’s sovereign identity was inseparable from its Hindu heritage long before Islam arrived. When princely Jammu & Kashmir acceded to India in 1947, the Instrument of Accession specifically guaranteed protection of all existing religious institutions. That document invokes the region’s plural but historically Hindu-rooted polity, not a blank slate. Kashmir’s dynastic history wasn’t exclusively “multi-faith coexistence.”
From the Karkota dynasty (c. 625–855 CE) through the Lohara kingdom (1003–1320 CE), Kashmir was ruled by Hindu monarchs whose geneses and governance were tied to Shaivism and other Hindu sects. The Rajatarangini (12th century chronicle) records dozens of Hindu kings and their endowments to temples—this isn’t a footnote but the core of Kashmir’s classical statehood. While Buddhists and later Muslims certainly contributed to the rich tapestry, that doesn’t negate the fact that Kashmir’s political structures, coinage, land grants (the Shasana inscriptions), and legal codes were shaped by and for a Hindu-majority ruling class for centuries.
2. “By that logic, the Vatican would own half of Europe.”
This comparison fails on two counts. Firstly, the Vatican is a sovereign city-state under the 1929 Lateran Treaty, with internationally recognized borders and extraterritorial rights over multiple basilicas in Italy. Its legal status is unique and does entail actual political jurisdiction—unlike any Hindu temple in Kashmir, which remains under Indian civil law. Second, equating a tiny city-state’s special treaty guarantees with a religious shrine’s cultural importance ignores centuries of regional power struggles over Kashmir.
3. “The claim that Kashmir ‘belongs to Hindus’ because of Amarnath or Shankaracharya temple is rooted in theocratic ethno-nationalist agenda, not history.”
Historical sources show Shaivism was the dominant faith of the early Kashmiri polity. The 8th-century Rajatarangini chronicles rulers patronizing Shiva worship; Queen Suryamati’s 11th-century gifts to Amarnath are recorded in multiple texts. These aren’t modern “ethno-nationalist” fabrications but genuine markers of an ancient Hindu state in the Valley
4. Conversion does alter a community’s indigenous stake when it’s imposed or incentivized politically. True indigeneity is rooted not only in birthplace but in the uninterrupted practice and institutions of a people. While individual conversions are personal, mass conversions under state patronage (e.g., Mughal land-revenue exemptions for converts) did reshape the demographic and institutional landscape, often at the expense of pre-existing Hindu institutions. Erasing the continuity of a faith community does weaken its claim on the public sphere—look at how many old Hindu shrines in the Valley were repurposed or fell to ruin after the medieval conversions. That loss of visible heritage undercuts your blasphemous idea that “conversion doesn’t erase indigeneity.” The demographic shift from ~6 percent Pandit population pre-1947 to under 1 percent today is no mere footnote—it reflects a transformation in who “belongs” in the Valley.
5. “Kashmiri Pandits’ lack of return is not the fault of Kashmiri Muslims. It is the fault of the Indian government…”
The 1990 exodus of roughly 300,000 Pandits was driven by targeted assassinations and mosque announcements from terrorist groups (JKLF, Hizbul Mujahideen) demanding their departure—actions directly by Kashmiri Muslims, not New Delhi While the Indian state’s resettlement package has been inadequate, you cannot erase the fact that Pandits fled under threat from local Islamist terrorists, nor that property-destruction and intimidation were carried out at the village level by Kashmiri insurgents. Kashmiri Pandits’ exile was driven by militant Islamist violence, not benign state indifference alone. In 1989–1990, Kashmiri Pandits were systematically targeted: homes marked with “P” for “Pandit,” public threats from JKLF and Hizbul Mujahideen, dozens of murders—this is well-documented. While the Indian government certainly botched the security response, the proximate cause of the mass flight was organized communal violence by militant groups, overwhelmingly deriving from the Muslim-majority side. Even today, many Pandits refuse to return precisely because the local power structure remains dominated by the same families and networks that either tacitly supported or actively condoned those 1990 purges. You cannot absolve those actors of responsibility simply by pointing at New Delhi.
6. Blaming only New Delhi for the Kashmiri Pandit displacement ignores the agency of local communities. Local Kashmiri Muslim leaders and civil society had opportunities to shelter and publicly protect Pandit neighbors but largely stayed silent or sided with the terrorists. That collective failure fueled the exodus. True reconciliation requires acknowledging both the state’s failures and the grassroots complicity. Your one-sided “it’s all Delhi’s fault” narrative only deepens the wound.
7. “Free Kashmir <3” “Freeing” any region implies a new sovereignty. But no Kashmir-wide plebiscite has ever been held; two-thirds of the Valley’s voters championed staying with India in the 1951 and 1975 assemblies. Pushing “independence” without democratic mandate simply replaces one form of rule with another-often more violent-and ignores the wishes of millions of Kashmiris who identify as Indian citizens. “Free Kashmir” slogans too often align with Pakistan-backed terrorism, not genuine self-determination. Genuine independence movements prize pluralism; Pakistan’s track record in its own territories (Balochistan, Sindh) and its support for jihadi groups in the Valley make it clear that “Azadi” framed by Islamabad would strip Kashmiri Hindus, Sikhs, even moderate Muslims of basic rights.
Real freedom would be one that guarantees security for every Kashmiri, not just the majority faith. Touting “free Kashmir” without that nuance only signals alignment with forces that intimidated Pandits in 1990—and still do.
The Bottom line is:
Historical sovereignty in Kashmir was deeply tied to Hindu kings and temples.
Demographic change via enforced or incentivized conversion did impact the Hindu community’s stake.
1990’s Pandit exodus was driven first by local Islamist militancy, secondarily compounded by Delhi’s inadequate security.
True Kashmiri freedom must protect minorities—any movement that doesn’t is no ally of pluralism but of the very extremism that drove Pandits out.
It's clear you’re more invested in fueling division than understanding history—maybe try reading up on Kashmir’s actual past before you spout off next time. And i mean some real history, not the version you’ve been fed to suit your narrow agenda.

I understand what a nightmare backdating multi-language compatibility would be, but it's a terrible shame that AO3's interface and tags are so hardcoded to English. It seems like the best solution might be to use the AO3 source code to essentially make AO3 clones for other languages, a la Wikipedia, but duplicating AO3's volunteer base for every language would be an arduous undertaking to say the least.

— Pinnacle [ tsukishima kei university au series ]
— i got wasted like all my potential ; after your repeated mistakes, struggles with the lab work, and lack of progress, tsukishima scolds you harshly till you’re breaking down in front of him
author’s notes : no mention of (y/n), written in second person pov, semi alternative universe, timeskip!tsukishima, college life, not proofread, english is not my first language
[ masterlist ] | #daleelahwritings🐭
The air in the lab was always thick with the scent of chemicals, the hum of equipment, and the nervous energy of students trying to avoid mistakes. Each week, the practicum grew more complex. What started as simple measurements and basic reactions quickly escalated into multi-step processes that demanded precision and a deep understanding of biochemistry—both of which you struggled with.
Today’s experiment involved a protein extraction procedure. The lab instructions were dense with scientific jargon that made your head spin. You reread the steps multiple times, trying to make sense of them, but it was like trying to decipher a foreign language. Around you, your classmates were already setting up their stations with practiced ease, moving in groups they had long since formed. You couldn’t help but notice how seamlessly they worked together, exchanging tips and helping each other out.
You glanced over at Tsukishima, who was busy assisting another group with the accuracy of their results. He looked so calm and collected, his tall figure standing out as he leaned over to explain something with a level of patience that was hard to reconcile with the way he always seemed to snap at you.
Determined not to mess up again, you carefully measured out the reagents, trying to remember everything Tsukishima had scolded you about last time. But as you transferred the solution into the centrifuge, your hand slipped, and the liquid spilled across the countertop. Panic surged through you as you frantically tried to clean up the mess, knowing that this mistake would not go unnoticed.
And it didn’t.
Tsukishima’s shadow fell over your station, and you froze, your heart pounding. He let out a long sigh, his frustration palpable. “Are you even trying to read the instructions?” His voice was low but edged with irritation. “I showed you this step just last week. How could you mess it up again?”
You bit your lip, tears threatening to well up in your eyes. The entire class seemed to have paused, all too familiar with the routine by now—another day, another scolding. It felt like everyone was waiting for you to break under the pressure, to finally admit that you didn’t belong here.
But Tsukishima, as harsh as he was, didn’t walk away. Instead, he grabbed another set of reagents and started the process from scratch. “Pay attention this time,” he muttered, demonstrating the steps once more. He moved with the precision and confidence of someone who had done this countless times before. “You need to stop being so careless. This isn’t something you can just half-ass.”
His words stung, but you nodded, forcing yourself to focus on what he was doing. He had a way of making you feel like a complete idiot, yet there was something in the way he didn’t just abandon you that kept you from giving up entirely.
As he handed the equipment back to you, his gaze softened slightly. “If you keep making the same mistakes, you’ll never get this. You need to practice more, or you’re going to fail.”
“I’m trying,” you whispered, your voice trembling. “I really am.”
“Try harder,” he snapped, but his tone lacked the usual bite. You couldn’t tell if he was genuinely angry or just tired of seeing you struggle. He watched as you completed the step under his supervision, nodding slightly when you finally managed to do it correctly.
Over the next few weeks, the pattern continued. Each lab session brought a new challenge, and with it, more opportunities to mess up. Whether it was miscalculating concentrations, mixing up solutions, or just getting lost in the labyrinth of complex procedures, it seemed like you were always on the verge of disaster. And Tsukishima, true to form, was always there to call you out on it.
“Did you even check the pH before adding that buffer?” he asked one afternoon, his eyes narrowing as he looked over your notes. “This is basic stuff. You should know better by now.”
You hung your head, feeling the heat of embarrassment rising in your cheeks. It wasn’t just his words; it was the weight of knowing that you were disappointing him again and again.
“I’m sorry,” you muttered, not for the first time.
He sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “Being sorry isn’t going to help you pass this class. Are you just trying to waste my time?”
His question hit you harder than you expected, and you could feel your throat tighten. You had spent so much time just trying to survive each practicum that you hadn’t really stopped to think about why you were doing this in the first place. But instead of answering, you chose to keep silent, hoping that maybe this time, your apology would be enough to placate him.
Tsukishima remained silent, clearly waiting for you to say more, to give him something to work with. He wanted you to argue back, to tell him what you were struggling with so he could actually help. But when all you offered was another weak, “I’m sorry,” you could see the disappointment flicker in his eyes.
He hissed with tiredness and frustration. “Well then, you’ve got your goal so perfectly. Congratulations on making me waste my time on you.” His tone was bitter, laced with a sharp edge that cut deeper than any of his previous scoldings. “If you’re just going to keep saying ‘sorry’ and not actually try to improve, then maybe you should rethink why you’re even here.”
After his scolding, Tsukishima turned away from you, leaving you to struggle on your own. The weight of his words pressed down on you, making it difficult to focus, but you forced yourself to push through. Determined not to be the failure he saw you as, you stayed long after the other students had left, methodically redoing each experiment that you had messed up earlier.
The lab was eerily quiet, the only sounds being the faint hum of the equipment and your own breath. It took hours, but eventually, you managed to complete the tasks, albeit with trembling hands and an exhausted mind.
You silently placed your lab report on Tsukishima's desk, hoping this ordeal would be over. As you turned away to return to your station and pack up, you heard him flip through the pages. His silence was unnerving, and just as you were about to make your escape, his voice, laced with irritation, stopped you in your tracks.
“Is this your idea of fixing things?” His tone was biting, and you flinched, slowly turning back to face him.
He was staring at the report with a look of deep dissatisfaction. “You’ve been here for hours, and this is the best you can do?”
You felt your heart sink. “I—I tried to—”
“Try harder!” he snapped, his frustration boiling over. He stood up, towering over you, the full weight of his height and anger making you feel small and insignificant. “Do you even care about this? Because right now, it seems like you’re wasting both your time and mine.”
You bit your lip, trying to hold back tears, but his harsh words felt like daggers. “I’m sorry…”
“Stop saying you’re sorry!” he cut you off sharply. “I don’t want apologies. I want results! Do you even understand how much effort it takes to fix your mistakes? And yet, you keep making the same ones over and over. It’s like you’re not even trying to improve.”
The tears you’d been holding back started to well up in your eyes, blurring your vision. You wanted to defend yourself, to explain that you were doing your best, but the words got stuck in your throat. All you could manage was a pathetic, “I’m trying…”
“Trying?” Tsukishima scoffed, his voice dripping with disdain. “If this is your idea of trying, then you’re hopeless. At this rate, you’re going to fail this class, and I’ll be the one who has to watch you flounder around, wasting everyone’s time.”
His words were like a punch to the gut. The tears you’d been fighting so hard to hold back finally spilled over, and you quickly looked down, not wanting him to see.
But it was too late. Tsukishima noticed, and for a moment, his expression flickered with something other than anger—maybe regret, or concern—but it was quickly masked by his frustration. “Crying isn’t going to help either,” he muttered, though his voice had lost some of its edge.
You wiped your eyes with the back of your hand, trying to steady your breathing. You wanted to disappear, to run away from his harsh gaze and never come back. But you were stuck, rooted to the spot by your own shame and helplessness.
He sighed heavily, rubbing the bridge of his nose. “You’re impossible,” he murmured, almost to himself. Then, in a quieter tone, he added, “Why are you even here if this isn’t what you want to do? If you’re just going to half-ass everything and cry whenever things get tough, then maybe you should think about whether this is the right path for you.”
That was the final straw. The weight of everything—your struggles, his harsh words, the pressure from your parents—came crashing down on you all at once. A sob broke free, and before you knew it, you were crying in earnest, the kind of crying that came from deep within, raw and uncontrollable.
Tsukishima looked alarmed, clearly not expecting this reaction. For a moment, he stood frozen, unsure of what to do. But then, awkwardly, he stepped closer to you, hesitating before finally placing a hand on your shoulder. “Hey, stop that,” he said, his voice much softer now, almost gentle. “I didn’t mean to… damn it.”
You couldn’t stop crying, no matter how much you tried to pull yourself together. The stress, the fear, the overwhelming sense of failure—it all came pouring out.
Realizing that his words had done more damage than he intended, Tsukishima, still awkward and hesitant, did the only thing he could think of to comfort you. He pulled you into a hug, his tall frame enveloping you, one hand gently rubbing your back as he murmured a quiet, “I’m sorry.”
You clung to him, the warmth of his embrace and the unexpected softness in his voice finally starting to soothe the raw edges of your emotions. Tsukishima held you, his own heart pounding in his chest, wondering how he’d let things get so out of hand.
As your sobs began to quiet, he pulled back slightly, just enough to look down at you. His usual cold demeanor was gone, replaced by an expression of concern and regret. “I shouldn’t have been so harsh,” he admitted, his voice low. “But you have to understand… I just don’t want to see you fail.”
You sniffled, wiping your eyes with your sleeve, still shaken but calmed by his unexpected kindness. “I… I’ll try harder,” you whispered, your voice trembling.
Tsukishima sighed, his hand still resting on your shoulder. “Just… don’t push yourself too hard, okay?” He paused, looking down at you with something softer in his gaze. “We’ll get through this, together.”
He sighed, letting go of you and running a hand through his hair. “Look, just… try not to take everything so personally. I’m hard on you because I want you to do well. If I didn’t care, I wouldn’t bother.”
You blinked up at him, surprised by his honesty. “You… care?”
He rolled his eyes. “Don’t read too much into it. I just don’t want to see you fail.”
Despite his words, you couldn’t help but feel a small spark of hope ignite in your chest. Maybe, just maybe, there was more to Tsukishima’s grumpy exterior than he let on. And maybe, if you kept trying, you could prove to him—and to yourself—that you were capable of more than just making mistakes.

So I know you’ve given the old black dragon from Dungeons and Dragons a redesign in the pats but I thought I would ask for your thoughts in the redesign coming soon in the new handbooks. There is a video on YouTube where one of the designers is interviewed about the new dragon designs. He says they designed the dragons more as characters then creatures which likely influenced a lot of the design choices. They want this thing to look evil. Do you think the design has improved? I also want to know if there any major changes you would make. I know in the past you had issues with the horns.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
comparison time! old and new!
Tumblr media
(image description: a side by side look at the old DnD 5e black dragon design and the new black dragon design. the old one is more multi colored and shows a variety of design choices that are common for making dragons look "cooler" but have no real function. the new design is more cohesively colored a very matte black with a white face and is anatomically more similar to a giant crocodile with long legs. end description)
I absolutely think the new design is so much better. the horn problem has been solved!!! my issue with the horns in the previous design was mostly that they just overlap the mouth! even taking into consideration how wide they might be, they line up directly with the open mouth and extend further forward than the mouth, making them a pretty huge impediment! but now the horns curve below the jaw and don't extend beyond it, so they're a lot less cumbersome! overall, this design and posing also makes so much better use of illustrative shape language, look at how little the body parts overlap each other! much cleaner. I appreciate the bony looking spines with minimal membrane between them, as opposed to the old version that just had the big sail fin on the neck for no reason. I kinda miss the striped coloration of the old one, but this new design is far more cohesively colored and so much more focused on really making it look like a black dragon, with nice subtle greens on the underside for that good ol fashioned countershading. I also like that the face is white to give it that skull-like vibe instead of shrinkwrapping the face to make it look like the underlying skull. overall, there is way less shrinkwrapping on the new design, it no longer feels like the skin has been vacuum sealed to the skeleton and musculature.
That said though, even considering the intention of making it look evil more than making it look like a real creature, why in the year 2024 are we still skimping on dragon wing membrane near the torso, making the wing fingers extend so far beyond the membrane, and adding random wing holes instead of making use of more interesting battle scars all over the body?
here is a very quick paint over to alter that and show how the design could just be tweaked a tiny bit and not lose any of its coolness while adjusting the things i have a pet peeve for
Tumblr media
(image description: same as above, but now on the new black dragon design I have colored in the random holes in the wings, erased the overly extended wing fingers, and added more surface area to the wing membrane where it meets the body. end description)
could absolutely be done better, this was just my quick sloppy solution. even just adding a little more wing membrane would be good enough, I don't know why there is still this insistence on leaving such a massive gap between the body and the nearest wing finger. or leaving so much finger extended past the membrane. what are those fingers there for. why do they still have big claws. these dragons have proper forelegs, they clearly aren't using those big cumbersome wing hands for anything other than flying, and the thumb is perfectly useful as a gripping tool all by itself. the fingers only get extended like that for the Look, but i think there are other ways to make the wings look cool. like giving them interesting colors and patterns on the membrane! why not extend the facial coloring here to the wings? enhance the skeletal vibe by making the underside of the wing arms all pale, maybe put some striping on the membrane? that would be neat!

meet the characters / a note on series
Angel, Duchess, Darling, Sweetheart, Peach, Love, Spark, and Sunny are nicknames for reader in my multi-chapter Fourth Wing fics. For cohesiveness and ease, each has been given a surname and backstory, and are treated like canon characters, while still being you.
Garrick’s girlfriend, Angel, (Lieutenant Avan) is Xaden and Garrick’s age, and has been close friends with them since childhood, as her father worked alongside Xaden’s. She bears a rebellion relic like they do, which she often keeps covered with long sleeves. She believes there is a non-violent solution to nearly every problem, refusing to harm anyone unless absolutely necessary. Her friends respect this, making sure she is well-protected from those who see her kindness as weakness. Angel is quiet, preferring not to rock the boat, as it is difficult for her to stand up for herself, and she is sensitive to any kind of conflict, especially within her friend group. She struggles with self-worth, and considers her own needs to be less important than everyone else’s, so she will not hesitate to use her signet to heal others even though it wears on her heavily to do so. Start reading here.
Brennan’s wife, Duchess, (Major Aisereigh, Lady Lindell) is the daughter and sole heir of the Tyrrish Duke of Lindell. Her culture is of deep importance to her. She is fluent in the old language, wears her hair in traditional braids, and is skilled in weaving runes. She met Brennan at Basgiath, where they were both at the top of their class, and she became a wingleader in her third year. The riot holds Duchess in high regard, as they recognize her genuine love of dragonkind and her ability as a leader. For this reason, she is allowed to speak to others’ dragons, a privilege that very few others are afforded, and she acts as an ambassador between them and the riders. She is calm, wise, and graceful, as nobility must be, but she doesn't like to mention her status, preferring to earn the respect of others through her actions. Start reading here.
Ridoc’s crush, Sweetheart, (Cadet Atken) caught his attention in part due to her strong skills in hand-to-hand combat, which she was taught by Garrick after they were taken in by the same family. Like Liam, she has a deep respect for Xaden and the older marked ones, following their orders without hesitation and staying out of trouble. Sweetheart has chronic anxiety, and uses her illusion signet to make calm projections of butterflies, flowers, or other gentle things to soothe herself when she feels overwhelmed or scared. She keeps to herself, not wanting to get attached to others for fear that she’ll lose them as she did her parents and older siblings, content to come across as cold and indifferent if it means people will leave her alone. Start reading here.
Bodhi’s girlfriend, Darling, (Wingleader Laurent) is the “mom friend” of the marked group. As the eldest daughter of Tyrrish aristocrats, she was raised to be a woman of society rather than a warrior, though she was able to become a skilled fighter with the help of Bodhi and Xaden. She excels at traditionally feminine tasks like sewing and baking, and finds comfort in taking care of others, especially the younger marked ones. Her signet gives her small glimpses of the future, though the sights are not always pleasant. She often seeks out Bodhi for comfort afterward, as he is good at reassuring her that everything will be okay and that it is not too late to change things. Her friends trust her intuition, heeding her warnings without question. [no real reading order for this one!]
Sawyer’s childhood friend and crush, Peach (Cadet Lowen) is studying to become a healer. As a third-year, she is part of the quadrant’s leadership, and is trusted by Nolon to help manage the infirmary while he is attending to other matters. A bubbly country girl with a heart of gold, Peach makes friends with everyone she meets and is not shy at all. She has a genuine care for humanity, and assumes the best of everyone. Unfortunately, this naivete often gets her into trouble, as not everyone’s intentions are as pure as hers. She maintains her femininity and individuality through her appearance, putting care into her nails and makeup and liking to wear civilian clothes whenever she’s off-duty, but she isn’t afraid to get dirty, and is largely unfazed by the injuries and blood she sees on a daily basis in her work as a healer. Start reading here.
Dain’s girlfriend / babymama, Love, (Section Leader Callwell) is the only child of one of Fen Riorson’s tacticians, and the niece of the Duke of Lindell (making her Duchess’s cousin). Officially, she was adopted by her aunt and uncle, along with Liam and Xaden, but she spent most of her time in Aretia with Brennan and his wife. She takes after her late father in his sharpness and intellect, and has an incredible memory — she can recite entire textbooks at will after reading them, giving her more time to sleep instead of studying. She is playful and joking, not taking things too seriously, but still strives to be the best rider she can be, finding new and creative ways to use her signet. Start reading here.
[others coming soon! watch this space!]

Writer tip: Repeating a character trait doesn't make it true.
"he/she/they were clever." said ad nauseum doesn't make it true. Prove it in the text, demonstrate it.
I mean you could tell me. And you could show me the university certificate, but it doesn't make it true and I won't believe you.
s/He was an inventor. Fine. He was an inventor, then demonstrate it in the text. Are they a one-trick pony and can't apply it after you introduce it? Then I think he stole the invention. He doesn't know how it works, can't demonstrate it being useful in other applications, can't figure out how to invent anything on the spot, has no mind of being an engineer. I don't believe you. Give me the mindset of the person.
The person was intelligent... again, demonstrate this is true in the text by them using words in context that makes them sound emotionally and intellectually intelligent. I'd be much more impressed if they were explaining fancy mathematical theory to a three year old using three-year old language than I would be them using long multi-syllabic words at random. That takes extra intelligence, to me. Fermat's Theorem AND be sensitive enough to get a Three year old's attention, hold it, and get the kid to understand. That's like intelligence on steroids.
It's not show or tell in this case, it's *actually put it into the text* instead of slamming me with the character trait over and over.
If I went around telling everyone every ten seconds I was smart, and I was clever, would you believe me? If I said I got into Yale, maybe you would wince and ask something like, Iunno, were you a nepo?
But if I told you I watched an episode of MacGyver and then broke apart a mechanical pencil for the spring and used some sticky tack to fix a screen door. That would lead some credence to how I was smart.
(BTW, he wasn't fixing a screen door in the episode).
If I told you I used dental floss to make a locking door open from the other side, you might believe me (It was a lunchroom push door. I'd gone to the dentist the previous day and had it in my pocket. I got sick of getting up for the door, so rigged it.)
BTW, this isn't a copy-paste moment, but to think up your own creative solutions to problems and try to borrow the mindset of everything can be fixed with duct tape, for example.
In another words, the more I demonstrate the logic, the mindset, then you'll start to believe me.
This person was creative. Still doesn't make it true. This person did avante garde paintings challenging colonialism and a dying planet using mixed mediums and trash, might tip those scales.
Frankly, I don't care if you tell me, or if you show me, just demonstrate it on the page it's true instead of repeating it over and over at me.
Go MacGyver with your engineer. Know your art movements for your artist. Know your pirouettes for your ballerinas. Pick up at least a fraction of the mindsets, so when Iunno, a computer engineer looks at someone saying the UX person told them that the program functions, but it doesn't actually work, it makes sense. (I saw a Japanese drama do this brilliantly, BTW, and I was delighted. On the flip side, I've seen people try to pass HTML and Javascript as "programming" especially badly formatted Javascript. I'm looking at you Square Space. WTF was with that badly formatted Javascript and calling that "programming". I may lack game, but seriously, that's not a good advertisement. Look, our program spits out terrible javascript and we don't know what programming and scripting is...) This is why the best writers are nerds. Wok Hei for your Chinese chef. I spent 3 hours looking up old waterwheels to get the engineering.
Again, don't use AI to get there, do the work and find an edge to play with. A gap. Because AI can't find gaps. A lot of professions have mindsets or varying mindsets. And if you capture that, you'll get ahead. Did I watch Cells at Work because doctors highly recommended the anime, yes I did. But I also picked up how doctors think.
BTW, dropping into process story structure for a little bit to demonstrate the impact or the brilliance of a chef, a painter, an engineer, etc usually tips people over the edge. It doesn't have to consume that long in the book either.

Heyo/
Would it be okay to request something from the Marvel Holiday Special now? I know December is almost over but if it's okay, I'm interested by 12. Lost Holiday Spirit with a twist. It's the reader who lost their holiday spirit and it's the character who show her how to enjoy it?
I kind of stop enjoying Christmas around my 20's but I wish I would find the good side of it again. This year I had an even rougher Christmas week than previous years so it would been nice to have someone during that time to make me enjoy it again.
I don't know if you do multi paring or not. If you don't, then I'll say Sam Wilson, if you do, I'll say both Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes. I'm being greedy but I need all the fluff I can get from that.
Thanks. ✒️

Snowflakes drift lazily from the December sky, painting the world in a blanket of pristine white. You sit on the worn couch in Sam’s apartment, wrapped in a fleece blanket that Bucky insists makes you look like a burrito. The two of them are lounging nearby—Sam perched on the arm of a chair, gesturing dramatically as he argues with Bucky, who sits cross-legged on the floor with a scowl that could freeze boiling water.
The argument, as always, is about nothing and everything. Something about eggnog versus hot chocolate has spiraled into a discussion about who would win in a snowball fight.
“I’m just saying, your vibranium arm doesn’t give you a free pass to cheat,” Sam says, waving a hand.
“It’s not cheating, Wilson. It’s called strategy,” Bucky retorts, his voice dry as the air outside. He points at Sam with a spoon he’s commandeered from your kitchen. “And for the record, you’d lose. Miserably.”
You watch the exchange with a faint smile but stay quiet, the usual light in your eyes missing. The flickering Christmas lights that Sam insisted on stringing up two weeks ago cast colorful reflections on the windowpane, but they don’t seem to reach you. You’re distant, quieter than usual, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Sam shoots you a glance, his brow furrowing. He doesn’t say anything right away, but you can tell he’s thinking. His energy shifts, his grin softening around the edges.
“Alright, hold up,” he says abruptly, turning his attention to you. “What’s going on with you? You’ve been sitting there like a sad elf all evening.”
You raise an eyebrow at him. “A sad elf?”
“Yeah,” Sam says, nodding decisively. “Like one of Santa’s helpers who just found out Christmas is canceled.”
Bucky snorts but doesn’t say anything, his sharp blue eyes flicking toward you. He’s clearly waiting for your response too, though he’s less direct than Sam about it.
“I’m fine,” you say, a little too quickly.
“Uh-huh,” Sam drawls, not buying it for a second. He slides off the arm of the chair and crouches in front of you, his hands resting on his knees. “Talk to me. Why do you look like someone just stole your cookies?”
You let out a reluctant laugh. “I’m fine, really. Just… not feeling very festive this year, I guess.”
Bucky leans back on his hands, his brow furrowed. “Why not? You’ve got Sam here trying to turn the apartment into the North Pole and me… well, I’m here.”
“And what an incredible addition you are,” Sam quips without missing a beat, earning himself a side-eye from Bucky.
You shrug, not meeting either of their gazes. “I don’t know. Christmas just doesn’t feel the same as it used to.”
Sam exchanges a quick glance with Bucky, a silent conversation passing between them. It’s the kind of unspoken communication that comes from years of fighting side by side, though in this case, it’s more about scheming than strategy.
“Alright,” Sam declares, standing up and clapping his hands together. “Challenge accepted.”
“Challenge?” you ask warily.
“Yeah,” he says with a grin. “Operation Restore Christmas Spirit. Buck, you in?”
Bucky raises an eyebrow. “Do I have a choice?”
“Not really,” Sam says cheerfully. “You’re in.”
Bucky sighs but doesn’t argue. “Fine. But if this involves ugly sweaters or caroling, I’m out.”
“No promises,” Sam replies, already pulling out his phone to jot down ideas.
You groan, pulling the blanket tighter around yourself. “You guys don’t have to—”
“Too late,” Sam interrupts. “This is happening. By the time we’re done, you’re gonna be singing Christmas carols and throwing tinsel like your life depends on it.”
Bucky smirks. “I’ll believe that when I see it.”
Sam’s eyes light up with mischief. “Oh, you will, Barnes. You will.”
The rest of the evening is spent with Sam and Bucky brainstorming increasingly ridiculous plans to restore your Christmas spirit. Sam suggests renting a sleigh and hiring reindeer. Bucky counters with something about a snowball fight tournament, which Sam shoots down because he doesn’t want to lose. By the time you head to bed, their bickering is still going strong, and you fall asleep to the sound of their voices, a small smile playing on your lips.
The next morning, you wake to the smell of coffee and the distant hum of Sam humming off-key in the kitchen. Blinking groggily, you sit up and wrap your blanket around your shoulders before trudging into the living room. Sam is by the stove, a spatula in one hand and a phone in the other, clearly multitasking. Bucky is sitting at the table, staring skeptically at a plate of pancakes in front of him.
“Morning, sunshine,” Sam greets you without looking up, flipping a pancake with unnecessary flair. “You hungry? I made breakfast. Pancakes, bacon, and a little something I like to call the magic of Christmas.”
“Magic of Christmas?” you echo, rubbing your eyes.
“Don’t ask,” Bucky mutters, poking at his plate like it might bite him.
“It’s festive,” Sam says defensively, finally looking up from his phone. He grins at you, his energy far too high for this early in the morning. “Speaking of festive, I’ve got a surprise for you.”
You eye him warily. “A surprise?”
“Yep.” He sets the spatula down and crosses the kitchen, plucking something from the counter. When he turns back to you, he’s holding a Santa hat and a pair of reindeer antlers. “Here. Pick one.”
“Why?” you ask, staring at the options.
“Because,” Sam says with a grin, “we’re going on a Christmas adventure.”
Bucky groans. “Oh no. Here we go.”
“Don’t be so dramatic, Barnes,” Sam retorts. “This is going to be fun. Now, which one do you want?”
You hesitate, glancing between the two items. “Do I have to?”
“Yes,” Sam says firmly.
With a sigh, you grab the Santa hat, plopping it onto your head. Sam beams, clearly pleased with himself. Bucky just shakes his head and mutters something under his breath that sounds suspiciously like, “This is ridiculous.”
Twenty minutes later, you’re bundled up and crammed into Sam’s car, the Santa hat still perched on your head. Sam is driving, his holiday playlist blasting through the speakers, and Bucky is in the passenger seat, looking deeply unimpressed.
“Are you going to tell me where we’re going?” you ask, peering out the window at the snowy streets.
“Nope,” Sam says cheerfully. “It’s a surprise.”
“Great,” Bucky mutters. “I love surprises.”
“Liar,” Sam shoots back, earning himself an eye roll.
The car ride is a mix of Sam singing enthusiastically—if not particularly well—to Christmas classics and Bucky grumbling about the state of modern music. Despite yourself, you find it hard not to smile. Their banter is infectious, and for the first time in days, you feel a flicker of warmth in your chest.
Eventually, Sam pulls into a parking lot outside what looks like a community center. Strings of lights are draped across the building, and a giant inflatable snowman stands by the entrance. There’s a handmade sign that reads: “Annual Christmas Carnival: Today Only!”
“A carnival?” you ask, glancing at Sam.
“Not just any carnival,” he says, grinning as he turns off the car. “The Christmas Carnival. They’ve got everything—games, hot cocoa, carolers. It’s the perfect place to get you back in the Christmas spirit.”
You hesitate, glancing at the building. “I don’t know…”
“Come on,” Sam says, already unbuckling his seatbelt. “Trust me, you’re gonna love it.”
Bucky sighs but gets out of the car without complaint. You follow reluctantly, pulling your coat tighter around yourself as the cold wind nips at your cheeks.
Inside, the carnival is a whirlwind of activity. Booths line the walls, each one decked out in festive decorations. There’s a hot cocoa stand, a cookie-decorating station, and even a small stage where a group of carolers is singing Jingle Bells. The air smells like cinnamon and sugar, and the sound of laughter fills the room.
Sam claps his hands together. “Alright, troops. Let’s do this.”
“What exactly are we doing?” you ask, your eyes darting around the room.
“Everything,” Sam says with a grin. “We’re hitting every booth, playing every game, and eating every Christmas treat we can find.”
“That’s ambitious,” Bucky says dryly.
“It’s festive,” Sam corrects, dragging you toward the nearest booth.
The first stop is a ring toss game where the rings are designed to look like wreaths. Sam insists on going first and somehow manages to knock over the entire display on his second throw. You can’t help but laugh as the booth attendant scrambles to fix it. Bucky goes next, and despite his grumbling, he nails it on his first try, winning a plush reindeer that he immediately hands to you.
“Here,” he says gruffly, avoiding your gaze. “Might as well get something out of this.”
“Thanks,” you say softly, hugging the reindeer to your chest.
Next is the cookie-decorating station, where Sam attempts to create an intricate snowflake design but ends up with something that looks more like a splatter painting. Bucky, on the other hand, sticks to a simple tree shape, his steady hands making the task look easy. You try your best to decorate a gingerbread man, but halfway through, Sam bumps your elbow, sending a glob of frosting onto its face.
“Oops,” he says, not looking the least bit sorry.
“Sam!” you protest, but you’re laughing, and he grins triumphantly.
The day passes in a blur of laughter and sugar. Sam keeps the energy high, dragging you and Bucky from booth to booth with boundless enthusiasm. Bucky plays along, his dry wit keeping things grounded, and you find yourself relaxing, the weight on your shoulders growing a little lighter with each passing moment.
By the time you leave the carnival, your arms are full of prizes and your cheeks hurt from smiling. Sam is still humming Christmas carols under his breath, and even Bucky looks a little less grumpy than usual.
“So,” Sam says as he unlocks the car. “How are we feeling? Festive yet?”
You hesitate, glancing down at the plush reindeer in your arms. The carnival was fun—more fun than you’ve had in a long time—but there’s still a part of you that feels disconnected, like you’re standing on the outside of the holiday cheer looking in.
“I’m getting there,” you say finally.
Sam’s grin falters slightly, but he quickly recovers. “Alright. Good. Because we’re just getting started.”
“Oh no,” Bucky mutters, climbing into the passenger seat.
Sam winks at you. “Trust me. By the time we’re done, you’ll believe in Christmas magic again.”
You laugh softly, settling into the back seat as the car pulls away. Maybe Sam’s right. Maybe you just need a little more time—and a lot more Christmas magic.
The following morning, you wake to the sound of hushed voices coming from the living room. Stretching, you shuffle out of bed, still clutching the plush reindeer Bucky had won for you at the carnival. As you approach, you catch snippets of Sam and Bucky’s conversation.
“It’s not my fault you have zero imagination,” Sam is saying, his tone dripping with mock exasperation. “My ideas are fun.”
Bucky grunts in response. “Your ideas are loud. We need something quieter. More… nostalgic.”
“You’re saying that because you don’t like crowds,” Sam shoots back.
“I don’t like your crowds,” Bucky mutters.
You step into the room, interrupting their banter. “Good morning. What are you two arguing about now?”
Sam brightens immediately, flashing you one of his megawatt smiles. “Morning, sleepyhead. We were just discussing today’s plan to restore your Christmas spirit.”
Bucky rolls his eyes. “Discussing is a generous term.”
You glance between them suspiciously. “What’s the plan?”
“It’s my turn,” Bucky says, crossing his arms. He doesn’t elaborate, which is very on-brand for him.
Sam sighs dramatically. “Apparently, Barnes here thinks he’s got a foolproof way to bring back your Christmas cheer.”
“Better than whatever nonsense you were going to suggest,” Bucky retorts, grabbing his jacket. He turns to you, his tone softening slightly. “Get dressed. You’ll need warm clothes.”
You hesitate, glancing at Sam for clarification, but he just shrugs, clearly as curious as you are. With no other option, you head back to your room to bundle up. Fifteen minutes later, you’re climbing into Sam’s car again, the air inside warm and slightly foggy from your breath.
The drive is quieter this time, though not unpleasant. Sam hums along to the holiday playlist on the radio, and Bucky occasionally points out landmarks or interesting spots along the way. When Sam takes a wrong turn, Bucky doesn’t hesitate to give him grief for it, sparking another round of their usual back-and-forth.
Eventually, the car pulls into a parking lot surrounded by pine trees dusted with snow. A rustic wooden sign reads: “Pine Haven Christmas Tree Farm.”
“A tree farm?” you ask, surprised.
Bucky nods. “We’re picking out a Christmas tree. A real one.”
“Real trees smell better,” Sam says, hopping out of the car. “Even if they’re a pain to deal with.”
“And,” Bucky adds, “we’re cutting it down ourselves. None of that pre-cut nonsense.”
Sam snorts. “Yeah, because nothing says holiday cheer like manual labor.”
You chuckle, a warmth blooming in your chest. It’s been years since you’ve had a real Christmas tree. The idea stirs something inside you—something nostalgic and bittersweet.
The three of you wander through the rows of trees, the air crisp and fragrant with the scent of pine. Sam keeps cracking jokes about finding the “perfect” tree, pointing out ones that are either hilariously small or ridiculously oversized. Bucky, meanwhile, is methodical, inspecting each tree like it’s a tactical mission.
“What about this one?” you ask, stopping in front of a medium-sized fir with evenly spaced branches.
Bucky steps closer, his gloved fingers brushing against the needles. “Not bad,” he says after a moment. “Good height, full shape.”
“Sounds like he’s describing himself,” Sam quips, earning a glare from Bucky.
You laugh, shaking your head. “I think it’s perfect.”
“Alright,” Bucky says, pulling a small saw from where it’s strapped to his back. “Let’s get to work.”
“Wait, you brought a saw?” Sam asks, incredulous.
“Of course I did,” Bucky replies, crouching beside the tree. “What did you think we were going to do, punch it down?”
Sam shrugs. “Wouldn’t be the weirdest thing you’ve done.”
While Bucky works on cutting the tree, Sam nudges you with his elbow. “So,” he says, his voice low and teasing. “Are you having fun yet?”
You smile, glancing at Bucky as he saws through the trunk with surprising ease. “I think so.”
“Good.” Sam’s grin softens, his dark eyes warm as they meet yours. “You deserve it, you know. A real Christmas.”
Your heart skips a beat at his sincerity. “Thanks, Sam.”
Before you can dwell on the moment, Bucky straightens, brushing snow from his knees. “Done,” he announces, gesturing to the fallen tree. “Help me carry it to the car.”
The three of you manage to haul the tree back to the car, though not without a fair amount of slipping, sliding, and laughing. Sam insists on tying it to the roof, despite Bucky’s clear skepticism.
“Don’t worry,” Sam says as he tightens the knots. “I’ve got this.”
“If that tree falls off, I’m making you go back and get it,” Bucky warns.
It doesn’t fall off, but the ride back is filled with Sam’s exaggerated accounts of how his superior knot-tying skills saved the day. Bucky’s deadpan responses only make the stories more ridiculous, and by the time you pull into the driveway, your cheeks hurt from laughing.
Back at the apartment, the real fun begins. Bucky helps you set up the tree while Sam retrieves the decorations he bought earlier in the season. There are strings of lights, shiny ornaments, and a gaudy star topper that Sam insists on using despite Bucky’s protests.
As you hang ornaments, Sam sidles up beside you, handing you a small red bauble. “So,” he says casually, “when was the last time you did this?”
You pause, turning the ornament over in your hands. “It’s been a while. Years, probably.”
Sam’s smile softens. “Well, you’re a natural.”
Your cheeks flush, and you look away, focusing on the tree. “Thanks.”
Nearby, Bucky watches the exchange with a quiet intensity. When Sam moves to adjust a strand of lights, Bucky steps closer to you, holding out an ornament shaped like a snowflake.
“Here,” he says, his voice low. “This one should go near the top.”
You take it, your fingers brushing his gloved hand. “Thanks, Bucky.”
For a moment, neither of you moves, the air between you heavy with something unspoken. Then Bucky clears his throat, stepping back to give you space. You hang the ornament, your heart fluttering for reasons you can’t quite name.
By the time the tree is fully decorated, the apartment feels transformed. The twinkling lights cast a warm glow, and the scent of pine fills the air. Sam flops onto the couch with a satisfied sigh, gesturing for you and Bucky to join him.
“Not bad, huh?” he says, draping an arm around the back of the couch. “We make a good team.”
You sit beside him, leaning into his warmth. Bucky takes the armchair, his gaze lingering on you for a moment before he looks away.
“It’s perfect,” you say softly, your voice filled with a warmth you haven’t felt in a long time. “Thank you. Both of you.”
Sam grins, squeezing your shoulder. “Anything for you, sweetheart.”
Bucky doesn’t say anything, but the small smile on his face speaks volumes.
The next morning, you wake with a strange warmth in your chest. It’s not the residual effects of the heated blanket or the lingering scent of pine from the Christmas tree. It’s something else, something harder to name. For the first time in weeks—maybe months—you feel lighter, like a weight you didn’t realize you were carrying has started to lift.
You pad into the kitchen, rubbing the sleep from your eyes, and find Sam and Bucky already there. Sam is leaning against the counter, munching on a piece of toast, while Bucky sips his coffee in silence, his expression as neutral as ever.
“Morning,” you say, your voice a little shy.
“Morning!” Sam replies, far too chipper for someone who’s been awake long enough to finish breakfast. “Sleep okay?”
“Yeah,” you say, hovering awkwardly in the doorway. “Uh… so, are we… doing anything festive today?”
Sam freezes mid-bite, his eyes going wide, and Bucky actually raises an eyebrow at you. It takes you a second to realize how out of character your question must sound.
“I mean,” you add quickly, your cheeks heating, “I’ve just been… having fun, I guess. And, uh… yeah.”
Sam grins like you’ve just handed him the winning lottery ticket. “Well, well, well. Look who’s finally getting into the Christmas spirit.”
Bucky smirks, setting his coffee mug down. “You sure you’re feeling alright?”
You roll your eyes, but there’s no real heat behind it. “I’m serious. Do you guys have any plans? If not, we could—”
“Say no more,” Sam interrupts, already pulling out his phone. “I’ve got a whole list of ideas.”
Bucky groans, though you catch the faintest twitch of amusement at the corner of his mouth. “Of course you do.”
“Don’t worry, Buck,” Sam says, scrolling through his notes with exaggerated focus. “I’m sure we’ll find something even you’ll enjoy.”
“Doubt it,” Bucky mutters, but he doesn’t argue when Sam starts rattling off options.
An hour later, the three of you are bundled up and walking through the snow-dusted streets toward the local ice-skating rink. Sam had insisted it was the perfect mix of festive and fun, though Bucky’s skeptical expression suggests he’s not convinced.
The rink is a charming, open-air setup surrounded by twinkling lights and dotted with skaters of all ages. A small booth nearby sells hot cocoa and cider, and holiday music plays softly through the speakers.
Sam rents the skates for all of you, tossing a pair your way with a grin. “Think you can handle it?”
“Probably better than you,” you retort, lacing up your skates.
Bucky snorts. “I’ll believe that when I see it.”
Moments later, you’re wobbling onto the ice, gripping the railing for dear life. Sam glides past you effortlessly, a smug grin on his face. “You were saying?”
“Oh, shut up,” you mutter, carefully pushing off from the wall. It takes a few tries, but you manage to find your balance, skating in slow, deliberate circles.
Bucky follows more cautiously, his movements stiff but steady. He doesn’t say much, but you catch him watching you, his gaze softer than you’re used to.
“You alright there, old man?” Sam calls, skating backward just to show off.
“Better than you’re going to be when you fall,” Bucky shoots back, though there’s no real bite to his words.
After a few laps, you start to relax, the rhythm of skating soothing in a way you hadn’t expected. Sam, ever the showoff, tries to teach you a spin but ends up losing his balance and landing flat on his back. You burst into laughter, the sound ringing out across the rink, and even Bucky chuckles as he helps pull Sam to his feet.
“You’re enjoying this too much,” Sam grumbles, though his grin betrays him.
“You deserve it,” you say, still laughing.
Bucky offers you a hand, his gloved fingers warm against yours. “Come on,” he says, his voice low. “Let’s see if you can keep up.”
You take his hand, your heart skipping a beat as he leads you across the ice. He’s surprisingly graceful for someone who claims to dislike skating, and the steadiness of his grip makes you feel like you might actually be good at this.
For a while, it’s just the two of you, gliding side by side while Sam practices another ill-advised spin. Bucky doesn’t say much, but his presence is steady and reassuring, like an anchor in the chaos of the holiday bustle.
“You’re getting the hang of it,” he says quietly, his blue eyes meeting yours.
“Thanks,” you reply, your cheeks warming—not just from the cold.
You skate together in comfortable silence, the world narrowing to the soft scrape of blades on ice and the occasional sound of laughter from nearby skaters. There’s something about the moment that feels… right, like a piece of a puzzle clicking into place.
But then Sam skates up, wrapping an arm around your shoulders and pulling you out of your thoughts. “Alright, lovebirds,” he says, grinning. “Time for cocoa.”
You shoot him a look, but you can’t deny the flutter in your chest at his teasing.
The three of you head to the cocoa booth, where Sam insists on topping yours with extra whipped cream. Bucky grumbles about the sugar content but still takes a sip of his own drink, his expression softening as the warmth seeps in.
As you sip your cocoa, your gaze flickers between them—Sam with his easy smile and infectious energy, and Bucky with his quiet strength and surprising gentleness. The realization hits you like a snowball to the chest: you care about them. Both of them. More than you’d ever expected, more than you know what to do with.
The rest of the day passes in a blur of holiday cheer. You visit a Christmas market, where Sam insists on buying matching scarves for all of you, and Bucky surprises you by picking out a delicate snowflake necklace and slipping it into your hand with a quiet, “For you.”
By the time you return to the apartment, your heart feels like it might burst from everything—joy, gratitude, confusion. You can’t stop thinking about how Sam’s laugh makes your chest ache in the best way or how Bucky’s rare smiles make you feel like the only person in the room.
As you help Sam hang the scarves by the door, Bucky sits on the couch, flipping through a book he’d picked up at the market. The soft glow of the Christmas lights bathes the room in warmth, and for a moment, you just stand there, taking it all in.
“Hey,” Sam says, his voice low. He steps closer, his hand brushing against yours. “You okay?”
You nod, swallowing hard. “Yeah. Just… thinking.”
“About what?” he asks, his dark eyes searching yours.
You hesitate, glancing at Bucky, who looks up from his book as if sensing your gaze. The weight of their attention settles over you, and for a moment, you’re not sure what to say.
“I… I don’t know,” you admit finally, your voice barely above a whisper. “This. Us. Everything.”
Sam’s grin softens into something more serious, and Bucky closes his book, his expression unreadable. The silence stretches, heavy with possibilities.
“You don’t have to figure it all out tonight,” Sam says gently, his hand brushing against yours again.
Bucky nods, his voice steady. “We’re not going anywhere.”
The warmth in their words wraps around you like a blanket, and for the first time, you let yourself imagine what it might be like—sharing this, sharing them. It’s terrifying and exhilarating all at once.
As the evening winds down, the three of you settle on the couch to watch a Christmas movie. Sam drapes an arm over your shoulders, pulling you close, while Bucky sits on your other side, his hand resting lightly on your knee. You glance between them, your heart full and uncertain, and wonder if maybe—just maybe—you don’t have to choose.
For now, it’s enough to simply be here, surrounded by warmth, laughter, and the people who make your world feel whole.

What information is available about a Metacrisis regeneration?
What information is available about a Metacrisis regeneration?
Metacrisis regeneration is a rare, volatile, and thoroughly under-documented phenomenon. It seems to occur when a Time Lord's regenerative energy is forcibly redirected and collides with incompatible biological (or psychic) material. The result is a highly unstable biological compromise.
⚙️ The Mechanics (as best we understand them)
When the Tenth Doctor channelled his regeneration energy into his severed hand, he effectively stored his biological template at the moment before transformation. The hand acted as a biodata anchor, vibrating with the Doctor's signature.
Donna Noble's contact with said hand triggered a two-way feedback loop. The result was a full regeneration event in two directions at once—one outward, one inward:
The hand received a trigger input, launching a full-form construction (aka the Metacrisis Doctor).
Meanwhile, the regeneration energy, now unmoored and desperate for stability, latched onto Donna, embedding Time Lord consciousness into a human brain.
🧠 Why was it unsustainable?
Your human brain is marvellous. However, it is also terrible. It's not designed to store the entirety of a multidimensional, multi-incarnational consciousness.
Donna's mind began to collapse under the strain. The DoctorDonna was essentially two minds wrestling to control a single nervous system. Left unchecked, it would have caused complete mental and physical system failure and flat-out killed Donna Noble.
To solve this particular problem, the Doctor wiped her memories as a solution. But crucially—he didn't undo the metacrisis. He just forced it dormant.
🧬 Genetic Transmission & Residual Traits
Rose Noble's inheritance of metacrisis traits indicates the metacrisis may have rooted itself at the genetic level. This is particularly disturbing, as it implies that metacrisis states can be inherited, even if incredibly unstable.
Both Rose and Donna, upon reactivation, eventually reached a state of conscious release, choosing to relinquish the regeneration energy, rather than allowing it to consume them. This voluntary dissipation suggests the metacrisis is not just biological but partly cognitive—a fusion of body, mind, and will.
👤 The Metacrisis Doctor
The Metacrisis Doctor was grown from the hand, born fully formed, retaining all of the Doctor's memories and personality—but with:
One heart
No regeneration cycle
Human biological anchors
And some of Donna's behavioural imprints
This suggests that the metacrisis process copies and blends genetic and psychological material, influenced by the mental state and personality of those involved. It is deeply interpretive, not clinical. The result is a being who is technically Gallifreyan but functionally human.
🏫So...
Metacrisis regeneration is not a viable process. It's not stable, not safe, and certainly not reproducible without catastrophe. Please do not attempt.

A Cup, and A Thread: A Post About System Communication
Hey, you know classic string telephone? The one made with two plastic cups and a piece of yarn, i suppose you recognize that old-school science toy? It's one of the simplest inventions that showcases how messages are sent from one place to another!
This little invention is very fitting to explain how inner communication works, so i hope today's theme of analogy will help you understand all of my messages im about to share, with a twist of a fiber.
There's a lot of things i want to address on this topic, thanks to all my 8 great friends who had helped me gather a variety of insights on what seems to be the problem, i have the answers right here that will be shared to the community, because of them!
You know what communication is?
I sure do, but let's both revise on what it means, according to Merriam-Webster, it's defined as..
"a process by which information is exchanged between individuals through a common system of symbols, signs, or behavior."
It also means "a technique for expressing ideas effectively."
..Alright, we should be in the same page now, but, do we actually know what counts as 'good' communication in system context? After some examination from the given data, it was a resounding "No." This can also mean many may not have a clear idea on it, which will also be addressed.
Okay, tell me please?
Before i do tell, remember that communication is diverse, with no perfect or right way to do so. Just like animals, where different species use unique methods to pull it off, means can systems have their own unique styles too.
There are a few examples we see in animals; like how some use pheromones to talk to its own kind, while some read off from their signature body languages, and some use tones or cues that is meant to be recognized specifically, to each their own meanings.
So, good communication means ensuring that everyone in the system can understand and receive messages effectively which eases functioning and cooperation, regardless of how frequent or indirect the communication may be.
For us, systems have unique internal methods of communication that are based on how our brains function, not having any unique features in animals. These methods are very personal, so find what works best for you.
Here are the common styles so far:
Verbal: Where you talk aloud, or in a media like notes.
Abstract vibes: Where you speak no words, which encompasses feelings, or concepts, or ideas, that can be "felt" instead of heard or seen.
Images: Where the share of messages are conveyed through memories, expressive actions or symbols that are projected in the mind.
Direct thoughts: Where an internal dialogue is present, parts communicate using this inner voice, that can vary in different accents and intonations.
The media represents a lot of the stereotypical kind, direct thoughts, while the rest are less recognized. These four kinds are not limited to, but are the ones often represented, they are equally as important and real.
It's important to note that alters within a system can have different communication styles, or the collective may share the same style. You can't force yourself to use a particular kind, so focus on practicing and mastering your style.
..But there's many problems!
Which is why it's a good idea to educate yourself and find proper solutions in order to resolve them. I know some of them at best, as there might be issues i have not heard of, though will still be shared.
Consider a clear communication between two alters with an example of both cups, connected to the string with no obstructive noise at the background while exchanging messages, one conveys the content clearly, and the other hears and received with maximum clarity/understanding. This will be our main example that will be used to compare with the problems that usually arise in this topic.
The problem with multi-talking
Now, to explain interruptions from another part would be like having an extra string-attached cup tied to the middle of the initial cup, now with two inputs and one receiver, the messages will overlap each other and become obscured.
This can be resolved by being aware, then slowing down when talking and take turns between each other to avoid clashes which can easily overwhelm or confuse the receiver, or even the sender itself since losing track of thought or words can happen.
The problem with worser performance from stress
When stress happens, this can sometimes mess up your state to receive messages, imagine that outwards stressors had pulled and tugged your thread, now a bit twisted out and weak, which still can be used to communicate and hear, but now in a weaker clarity.
Because parts communicate mostly from internal ways, our brain networks are responsible to allow when activities inside (that doesn't necessarily involve system things) can happen. Just like how imagination runs in a mind that's wandering off, stress alerts you instead, snapping off from any safe or calm activities until the 'threat' is resolved.
You can gain temporary clarity by calming yourself down and bring all your focus to send your messages if any responds, if it doesn't happen, it would be best to wait it out until you naturally feel at ease once more, or solve the issue at hand and try again afterwards.
This may not work when you are in a fight or flight response, if you do got cutted off and need to contact anyone from inside, try using strong triggers to probe a response.
The problem with ineffective communication
It is like talking to a part who uses a rubber strand instead of cotton string as its mediator. Threads can conduct finer vibrations that can preserve the original verbal message, while rubber can represent for those who use vibes, as they're more broad and less specific. So if they attempt to talk to you with rubber, you might not receive it's message well,
This can be solved with having another part that are flexible or able to decipher, or find the middle ground where both can exchange better. (e.g. texts)
The problem of talking outside your subgroup
This is where it gets tricky, because there is a notable difference in communication where it's easier to converse inside your group while it's harder to converse outside of your group. What i mean by group is they are the people you meet and talk the most and have easy time communicating.
Imagine that the same group has the same length of the thread, the shorter, the better it retains or transfers message with no effort. Talking outside of your group would require you an extra pair of string telephone, but this time the thread is long as you're talking to another neighboring group, who isn't directly related with you.
Suggestions varies from trying different medias to contact with and see what works best, or rely on someone who have direct relations with the group you mean to interact with, acting as a bridge. Lowering barriers by consenting to get closer in co-conscious might do the trick too. Long term solution would be building ties to strengthen communication. (can also work with layers, better if you can 'travel' there to get direct interactions)
The problem with front and innerworld disconnection
It is normal to be out of contact from the inside when you're fronting, since this would mean you put down the cup to focus doing task or role job. To remedy this, try finding a moment to sit down or close your eyes, and feel yourself going back to your mind, since in order to contact those inside, you must lightly disconnect from the real world to focus better inwards.
The problem with having aphantasia
As if you heard the noise from the cup, but you're not sure where that sound is coming from nor aware of your surroundings as this condition blinds you visually (can vary from mild to severe, blurry/vague mental images to blank respectively).
Your innerworld is still there, using visualization is one way to immerse in, start relying on your tactile awareness, or your 'radar' that is, since it is possible to detect parts in your proximity. Rely on tangible medias such as texting or notes to keep track of things.
The problem with external noise
Having a comorbid of something, such as ADHD, autism, or OCD can create a mental chatter that exists in the background constantly.. if not most of the time, imagine that the location of the telephone is somewhere bustling, now it is harder to tell which one is intrusive, random chatters, or an alter's voice.
There is not a lot to say except learning how to separate those noises from your people, it is done best by slowing down and voice your messages wide and clear to create a distinction from such background chatter, making it easier to differentiate.
Other conditions like depression and anxiety can also affect the clarity and ease of communicating.
The problem with distinguishing others
For those with comorbids and aphantasia, this can make it much harder, though still possible! One last problem with communication is sometimes not knowing who is who, which creates obstacles in different ways. Imagine that there are multiple cups lined up to you as the receiver, this creates difficulty on pinpointing whose speaking. Thus, having problems on replying back or made sure if the first sentence relate to the second one, or it belonged to someone else.
The only solution there is, has to be a long term one. As you're suggested to slowly collect and recognize different speech pattern, assigned vibes of other parts, when they usually reply or what topics/mentions brings them up, and different accents or tone if any.
It is not required to 'know' physical attributes or what they look like, but this one will help a ton and usually the easiest way in distinguishing who is who. The solution is to go through a trial and error (arrange all the attributes you like/feel connected to, and see what sticks) and document all the findings somewhere, incase you're forgetful/difficulty memorizing.
Special mentions
It is worth knowing that communication is greatly affected by your state of mind + physical health, the conditions you have, the maturity of the alter in communicating skills, and the style you or the collective dominantly have.
That being said, having the same role, or source, or how old or new an alter is doesn't generally affect the ease of exchanging messages.
Lastly, inner communication also obeys similar rules to how conversation works in real life, this can be taken from examples:
The proximity of the talker you're with affects how much you can understand what is being said. It makes sense that you need to focus harder to hear what the mumbles meant when they're further away from you.
Being with people you can vibe along always results in a better and more effective exchange, as you don't have to explain twice for them to get the message. (mutual understanding)
How loud the environment is also affects how focused/undisturbed you are within a conversation, and it takes effort to separate the background noise to catch what they're saying.
People also have their own ways of expressing their message, some are more dominant in body language or etc. This is why it is important to recognize and understand what it means. You will always have your own dominant way of socializing, but this doesn't mean you can't learn other ways, partially.
Now comprehending the concept of system communication does become easier, right? This should serve as a good framework to start building and understanding connections.
One last phone call
I hope everything i have said here has been loud and clear, if there is a problem that has not been mentioned that needs fixing, give this string telephone a tug and i'd answer your call alright?
May this post address all the things you need more than a hotline help centre and leave with full satisfaction.
If you please, i will now indulge in the whole history of telephone strings, join me if you wish! Did you know it's originally made of tin can instead of a plastic cup?
-- The next post that will be out: all about introjection. Stay tuned!

hi! can i ask modern au(i'm not sure if thats what its called but yk where we live without the superpowers) hcs with shenhe and kafka x reader? the reader could be fem but if you dont write that gn is okay too. just hcs about how it would be like to date them and what kind of stuff they'd to etc. hope you have a nice day!!!
hi! of course! I'm soooo sorry it took this long!!
Modern Au!Kafka and Shenhe with dating headcanons (fem!s/o)
Shenhe
As in the game, this tall intimidating woman is a bit hesitant as she’s still learning more social cues and being able to smoothly get into a conversation. You love her dearly but sometimes she scares others by casually suggesting violent solutions to certain problems like it’s completely normal. As much as you joke about giving her classes on social cues and how to not seem like a robot she asks you to actually do that.
She’s hella protective. She has you carry one of those multi purpose keychains with a window break (which could be used as a shank as she’s suggested), pepper spray, a small knife, etc and tells you to look out for signs of any danger. You’re both trained in self defense and know additional safety combat techniques. Shenhe just really doesn’t want anything to happen to you since you’re one of the best things to happen to her.
Please help her cook because Shenhe badly wants to cook you a meal and not set off the fire alarm or somehow make an abomination of sometype. It can also be a fun date where you both bake a cake or a favorite if yours. She’ll get confused if you put frosting on her nose jokingly but very flustered when you lick it off or kiss it off.
You adore her cuddles and how she is the perfect size for being a little spoon, not to mention those soft plush breasts she has that make perfect pillows. Your girlfriend adores cuddles more than anything since you’re so adorable already and hers.
This is a strange one but please take her to the zoo she’s absolutely enamored with all of the animals and it doesn’t matter if she’s already seen them Shenhe will watch them all day and read the facts on the stand in front of the habitat. Despite the fact that you can see it too she’ll tell all of her favorite things about said animal. She is fascinated by giraffes and flamingos because giraffes according to her are “stretched horses” where as flamingos remind her of a bright pink version of a crane that used to frequent a lake next to her house.
Kafka
Let get one thing straight gay your girlfriend is a tease and loves to play harmless mind games with you from anything to receiving affection to coaxing you into making a decision. She’s not going to manipulate you ever it’s just she likes to keep you on your toes and loves the reactions you give.
Her love language is more physical touch and words of affirmation than anything else. There are countless times that you’ll be in her arms and cuddle into her as she praises you for being so good to her and for her. How you’re the best person she’s ever met and brings out the best in her. You’d get cavities from how sweet she is to you.
Kafka is someone who others can’t figure out and tries to solve her like an old riddle fabled to hold untold riches but only you hold the answer. She’s purposely tries to be standoffish to make sure others don’t harass you or think they can hurt you in any way. Especially since she has some enemies that would love to have you in their arms in order to get one over Kafka but she’ll ensure you that you’re forever safe with her. If something does happen she’s rushing you to the hospital first off to make sure you’re okay or any injuries you sustained will be taken care of and then calling up her friends and associates to take care of whoever decided to hurt her girlfriend.
You’re being taken on meaningful and charming dates that have clearly been thought through and they sometimes are as simple as a picnic or a movie night at home to having dinner at a high-class restaurant or taking you out on a night in the city and spoiling with gifts that you’ve been eyeing.

Second Spring
